Project «Cycling» lead partner discussed progress of the cycle path construction

On the 1st of April the Directorate held a meeting on progress of the cycle path construction in Svetogorsk as part of the project «Cycling» implementation.

The Directorate has held meetings with representatives of the cycle path construction contractor, construction control company and developers of design and engineering documents regularly in order to coordinate construction works.

At this meeting, participants discussed the works being carried out at the moment – technological and design solutions regarding street lighting, restoration of the road surface on two bridges along the route, over Unterniska River and Gryazny Creek, and also further plans.

In addition, this spring the Directorate’s contractor plans on equipment of the BCP Svetogorsk at the Russian-Finnish border with elements of cycling infrastructure (road marking, information boards, parking spots) as well as rest area for cyclists in front of the BCP.

Project «Adaptation of new approaches to develop cycling and cycling routes between Russia and Finland to improve safety, mobility and environment, and to promote social development (the case: Svetogorsk – Imatra cycle track)» (project «Cycling») is implemented by the Directorate since 2018 in collaboration with the City of Imatra, Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of the South-East Finland and City of Svetogorsk with financial support from the South-East Finland – Russia CBC Programme, Government of the Leningrad Region and the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
